Mensa Invitational

This was a competition by the Washington Post: “The Washington Post’s Mensa Invitational once again asked readers to
take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or
changing of one letter, and supply a new definition.”

16 winning entries and also check out the posts underneath for some more corkers :-))

This story has nothing to do with the webpage – it’s just a pic of the Washington Post

Changing the Present

“Changing the Present is one of the best online giving sites around.
It’s focused on “donation gifts” for birthdays, weddings, and holidays.
Whether it’s a donation to an organization fighting for human rights,
the environment, or population control, this site lets you give the
gift of charity.”

One of the gifts you can give is to give a kid in India 6 months of night school at Barefoot College.

Molecular Expressions

View the Milky Way at 10 million light years from the Earth. Then move through space towards the Earth in successive orders of magnitude until
you reach a tall oak tree just outside the buildings of the National
High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida. After that,
begin to move from the actual size of a leaf into a microscopic world
that reveals leaf cell walls, the cell nucleus, chromatin, DNA and
finally, into the subatomic universe of electrons and protons.”

Apologies for not posting a link today – I forgot to post and I’m at work now and have no access to my little links database at home.

Normal service will be resumed tomorrow…
